Filmmaker Shankar has got opposed by a group of transgenders here after they found objectionable scenes about their community in his latest flick "I", which is currently running in cinemas.

The transgender community in the city is said to be upset by the way they have been portrayed the character as popular make-up artist, a transgender, Ojas M. Rajani and are reported to be filing a complaint against the film and its makers. It is also said that they are staging a 'dharna' in front of Shankar’s house and also in front of the Censor Office in Chennai.

"We want Shankar to remove those scenes from the film. It belittles our community and we plan to lodge an official complaint on Monday with the police. If required, we don't even mind taking the legal recourse," popular transgender TV personality Rose Venkatesan told.

"The way Shankar has portrayed Ojas's character makes us look like some sex-starved individuals. We are in talks with the members of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender(LGBT) community to decide the next course of action," Rose said.

On Saturday, a group of transgenders staged a protest in front of Shankar's house here.

Taking these into consideration, police protection has been given to Shankar’s house.
